EDUCATION
From pre-school to college, our educational institutions cater for every stage of your children’s development.

Pre-school, primary and Secondary
South Tipperary’s towns and larger villages all have primary and secondary schools, many of which serve as focal points for the local community. In addition, many towns and villages also have private and public pre-school services. To find out more about the schools in your area, check the full listing on the Dept of Education's website.
In many rural areas, community pre-school services have been developed to help local parents and children. The ‘Green’ school programme is enthusiastically operated here, promoting environmental awareness; so far, 25 schools have obtained the coveted green flag.
Further Education
South Tipperary is well-served for further education services, with three universities and four Institutes of Technology all within a daily commute of our main towns. We also have a number of community colleges in the county – designed to offer a range of adult education and post-grad certificate courses.
Tipperary Institute has a campus in Clonmel. Courses include business, language and multimedia studies. As well as student programmes, the college also provides business and consultancy services to local companies.
The University of Limerick and Limerick Institute of Technology are both just a short drive to the west of South Tipp. On the eastern side is Waterford Institute of Technology and to the north, Carlow Institute of Technology.
Slightly further away, Cork University and Cork Institute of Technology are not far from the south of the county.
