The Bru Boru Cultural Centre, in Cashel, runs a genealogy service, offering access to 400,000 records for South Tipperary. The records include Roman Catholic records (the earliest dating from 1778), civil births, deaths, and marriages (from 1864), non-Catholic marriages (from 1845), gravestone inscriptions for South Tipperary, Tithe Applotment/Primary Valuation Lists, and the 1901 and 1911 Census for South Tipperary.

Specialist research service, Tipperary Family History Research, is based in the Excel Centre in Tipperary Town. It offers access to the Baptismal and Marriage records of the Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Cashel and Emly, along with search facilities for the databases of Ireland's Memorial Records for World War I and World War II.

Tipperary Studies, in Cathedral Street, Thurles, is a reference library and research centre with an excellent collection of material relating to County Tipperary. It includes published books, journals, newspapers, photographs, audiovisual material microform, manuscripts and other ephemera. The collection spans archaeology, history, topography and social studies. Old local newspapers paint a vivid picture of the history of the county. Genealogy and family history records include the 1901 and 1911 Census returns, which offer insights into the education, religion, and occupations of the residents.
